There are more than 30,000 known species of fish.
Fish have gills which extract oxygen from the water around them.
Some flat fish use camoflage to hide from predators on the ocean floor.
Fish have small brains in relation to the size of their bodies (compared to most other animals!)
Fish have scales which are often covered in a layer of slime (yuk) to help make their movement through water even smoother
Cleaner fish help out other fish by removing parasites and dead skin from their scales
Jellyfish and crayfish might have the word “fish” in their names, but they aren’t actually fish at all!
